  • The Opportunity

    Reporting to the Food Team Leader this role works closely with the food business to ensure BSI continues to be the leader in technical excellence in the food sector.  Working closely with our auditors you will be providing thought leadership and setting the baseline in expectations for the technical delivery of the audit process.


    This role provides an opportunity to use your negotiation and influencing skills to achieve pragmatic outcomes as well as challenge your food safety knowledge and application of standards.  You will be working in a fast paced environment with a high degree of client engagement therefore, having a strong customer focus is key.


    The role has an auditing component and would suit a current, highly skilled auditor who wants to maintain a work/life balance. 

    Key tasks include:

    • Ensure that external stakeholder requirements and BSI procedures are being met
    • Liaise with external stakeholders and complete reports as required
    • Implement changes required due to external and internal stakeholder requirements
    • Review procedures and documentation as required
    • Co-ordinate compliance based competency approvals with staff members and their line managers
    • Undertake report reviews to ensure that they are completed within BSI and Standard Owner KPIs and ensure the impartiality of the report review process
    • Maintain an audit load
    • Co-ordinate and conduct witness assessments to ensure that auditor’s approvals are current
    • Undertake internal audits as required
    • Prepare and present technical information to auditors and other BSI employees including monthly technical newsletters
    • Other tasks as required related to the BSI Australia business
    • Act as a brand ambassador for BSI. This means acting ethically, following company rules and promoting BSI services to clients so they are able to optimize business performance and ‘Make Excellence a Habit’.

    We are looking to recruit a Food Compliance Specialist within the Compliance and Risk team based at our offices in either Sydney or Melbourne.

    About You

    • A food safety auditor with at least 5 years audit experience with broad industry experience
    • An expert in food safety and the application of food safety across many industries
    • An expert in a number of Food Safety standards including but not limited to WQA, HACCP, Coles Supplier Requirements, BRC and SQF
    • Proactive, confident and outgoing to be able to build a quick rapport with clients, auditors and standard owners
    • Able to make fast and consistent decisions based on (often) limited facts.
