  • The Opportunity

    Purpose of Position

    To work as part of the BSI Australia Operations & Compliance team providing technical support and guidance to Clients, Food Sector team, internal and external stakeholders.


    Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

    • Assist in maintaining accreditation compliance liaising with the relevant scheme managers
    • Prepare and present technical information to Auditors, Clients and other BSI internal staff
    • Manage assigned local schemes
    • Keep Food Sector up to date with changes to standards and legislation within Australian, New Zealand Food Industry
    • Assist in ensuring that external stakeholder requirements and BSI procedures are being met
    • Assist in implementing changes required due to external and internal stakeholder requirements
    • Liaison with external stakeholders as required
    • Review and update procedures and documentation related to area of expertise as required
    • Complete report reviews
    • Undertake witness audits and internal audits as required
    • Assist in maintaining Auditors competency requirements
    • Other tasks as required related to Operations & Compliance


    Key Dimensions

    • All changes to legislation are implemented and communicated to appropriate staff within an appropriate timeframe
    • Develop and maintain internal and external relationships
    • All report reviews assigned are completed within Stakeholder KPI timeframes
    • Witness audit reports are completed within 24 hours of the audit report being completed


    Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

    • Tertiary Qualifications (Bachelor of Science or Equivalent desirable)
    • BSI qualified as a Food Safety Auditor in a minimum of one standard
    • Approval as a WSE and/or GFSI Auditor is desirable
    • Computer Literate and able to manage proprietary platforms
    • Highly organised, with a proven ability to manage a number of projects and priorities at any given time
    • A good communicator that can liaise with and influence a wide audience including staff, external groups and committees
    • Close communication with the Operations & Compliance team regarding direction, progress and outcomes.
    • Act as a brand Ambassador for BSI. This means acting ethically, following company rules and promoting BSI services to clients so they are able to optimize business performance and “Make Excellence a Habit”.

    About You

    • A food safety auditor with at least 5 years audit experience with broad industry experience
    • An expert in food safety and the application of food safety across many industries
    • An expert in a number of Food Safety standards including but not limited to WQA, HACCP, Coles Supplier Requirements, BRC and SQF
    • Proactive, confident and outgoing to be able to build a quick rapport with clients, auditors and standard owners
    • Able to make fast and consistent decisions based on (often) limited facts.
