This role offers real diversity and variety, where one minute you’ll be in the lab undertaking some emergency electrical repairs on a test rig and the next you’ll be discussing and project managing brand new test rig build requirements with the lab team. Strong communication and project management skills are at the heart of this role as you’ll have constant interaction and engagement with internal clients at a variety of levels, from technicians to senior managers. This role is perfect for an electro mechanical engineer with some electronics understanding, who is able to apply their technical ability in a hands on development focused role.
Your primary role will be based in the development workshop, we will bring you up to speed on our bespoke testing rigs, you will need proven experience in maintaining elecgtro mechanical machinery, possibly have designed electrical schematics and drawings but know how to read them. We require you to use the latest safety principles and then order neccessary parts and build the systems into the test rigs and diagnose the cause of breakdowns, complete repairs or provide solutions as well as liaise with external suppliers or contractors.
Another key part of your role will be to work within our development group, to assist and review new projects, supporting the business in a collaborative way to ensure end goals are reached in a timely and effective manner. We need 'Lean and TPM' thinking and a solution orientated approach.

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our testing laboratories in Hemel Hempstead, working as an Electro Mechanical/Electronic Development and Support Engineer within the development and workshop support team.
To be successful in this role you will need to have an electrical design/engineering background and machine maintenance experience, but basic wiring skills with the ability to read and create wiring diagrams are essential. Workshop/machining skills would be useful but this can be trained on the job. You'll be qualified to at least HND level or a specialist skill/qualification in an electro mechanical or electrical engineering discipline, City and Guilds Parts 1, 2 and 3 Electrical Engineering. Also any professional qualification in one of the following disciplines would be required - Electrician, Electronics, CAD for electrical drawings, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Conditioning Specialist or similar.
You'll need the skills to build relationships with our teams, understand their requirements and then deliver this work autonomously as well as managing multiple projects so strong project management skills are a must. With this you’ll need to use your strong interpersonal skills to confidently present solutions and options to our test team for their test equipment.
