    Food is an important Sector, its big and represents 10% Global GDP or US$48 trillion according to the World Bank. 1:10 people fall ill and millions die from food borne illnesses annually. Feeding the world will require 30% more food by 2030 and 70% by 2050. Changing consumer needs will require constant attention to food quality, safety, traceability, sustainability, OHS, ethical and social responsibility issues. BSI believes the quality and sustainability of our food supply must be safeguarded - with over 2,800 Food and Agri standards in our portfolio we are well positioned to be an Industry thought leader.  

     

    This role will be responsible for building a food sector membership community of industry thought leaders comprising private industry, academia, industry associations, and government. The community will be managed and empowered to identify emerging issues and challenges for standardization, knowledge solutions, training and capacity building.  

     

    To develop and evolve a membership revenue model which is renewable and able to self-fund community driven initiatives and ensure collaborative engagement and networking with Food sector community membership community.  Through food sector market insight, develop and consolidate emerging issues for discussion, develop and promote knowledge solution for the food membership community.


    Identify new prospects to grow the BSI membership community ensuring a balance and alignment with BSI:Geography - Global Standards Organisations [GSO] – EMEA, APAC, America’s, Commonwealth Standards Organisation - Food Sub Sectors – Production, Manufacturing, Retail, Food Services, Storage & Logistics, Packaging.

    About You

    • Degree level, equivalent education or proven Food Sector sales experience
    • Tertiary or professional exposure to the Food, Retail or FMCG Sector
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as good interpersonal skills
    • Proven track record of significantly exceeding targets and expectations
    • Proven ability in closing business to business sales and winning new customers
    • Excellent sales, negotiation and presentation skills
    • Ability to develop executive level relationships and engage with the customer to establish an understanding of their business drivers and how BSI can enable them to become more efficient
    • Able to communicate complex technical issues
    • Excellent organisational and problem solving skills
    • Self-motivated and adaptable to be able to work with minimal supervision
    • Experience of working in a KPI driven environment
