  • The Opportunity

    We now have an exciting opportunity for a Building Services Supervisor at our Testing Centre of Excellence based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

     

    As the Building Services Supervisor your role will be to ensure effective delivery maintenance services to the site by providing a service which is accountable and customer focused, delivered by in-house and externally contracted teams and to provide leadership and effective management of the Maintenance team.

     

    Purpose of the position

    Work collaboratively with the Operations Support team to ensure that product testing and associated work can function effectively in a well maintained building environment. Provide technical expertise to support the internal team, challenge external service providers and support lab projects in both Hemel Hempstead and Loughborough sites.

    About You

    Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

    • To lead and deliver a building management strategy to optimise internal engineering resources, minimise energy usage and achieve value for money from all outsourced services
    • Responsible for the compilation and maintenance of building maintenance processes and procedures to be included in Facilities Operating Procedure Manual
    • Provide an effective help desk system so that all reactive works are recorded, prioritised and resolved in a timely manner, incorporating customer liaison and feedback
    • To ensure that all contractors meet the BSI internal Contractor Management System requirements and receive the relevant induction.
    • To check that relevant RAMS are in place and safe working systems are met at all times
    • Review and update the asbestos register where necessary in line with the control of asbestos regulations 2012.
    • To ensure that all areas of Health and Safety within building maintenance and facilities activities in the Hemel Hempstead site are documented and managed effectively
    • Ensure compliancy in line with Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations1999, the Electricity at Work Regulations1989 and the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations
    • Implement and maintain cost effective, energy efficient services and systems across the Hemel Hempstead site
    • Ensure all plant equipment is maintained to the manufacturer’s guidelines and documented under a PPM schedule
    • Support the H&S manager with Fire & Risk procedures and ongoing fire management deliverables
    • Provide ESOS and sustainable solutions in regards to new electrical installations, projects or existing areas for improvement

     Key Skills:

    • You must have completed a recognised apprenticeship and have a full technical certificate in electrical building services engineering.
    • Knowledge of HVAC
    • Up-to-date knowledge of health and safety legislation.
    • Ability to liaise with contractors and suppliers.
    • Experience in writing processes and procedures to be incorporated into a Facilities Operating Procedure Manual.
    • Proven team lead or people management skills
