  • The Opportunity

    The role of Business Development Manager is primarily focussed on selling of BSI Product Certification and Product Testing services to a range of clients within the Built Environment sector primarily, or other targeted sector with high potential.

    This role is responsible for identifying and managing sales opportunities, building relationships with internal and external clients to understand their business needs and drivers, and positioning BSI as a supplier of Product Certification services to clients looking to export their products into regions that recognise European or BSI certifications.

    As a Business Development Manager you will:

    • Proactively network with existing customers to sell BSI products.
    • Within territory, identify and proactively pursue new prospects to grow the BSI customer base through targeted contacts, trade shows, and client visits to generate sales revenue in line with targets.
    • On a monthly basis, produce accurate sales forecasts and reports of activities undertaken.
    • Identify opportunities for new services that BSI could offer within the territory (supported by robust business case)
    • Remain up to date with BSI’s certification processes (and related regulations where appropriate) and be able explain these to customers.
    • Through strong relationship building, effectively engage with appropriate decision-makers.
    • Able to plan on a short-term basis (1-3 months) to achieve immediate performance goals.

    About You

    To be successful in this role you'll have demonstrable new business acquisition skills regularly exceeding targets through prospecting and high levels of activity, with a clear record of growing existing clients successfully. A thorough knowledge of the sales process, territory management and planning is required along with a clear ability to build strong internal networks and virtual teams to support existing customer growth and new client acquisition. You’ll also require knowledge of related compliance, regulatory obligations, and directives gained either in a similar sales or business development position, or through experience in implementing, or meeting, conformance to standards in these areas ideally in the Constructions Sector which includes building information modelling (BIM) or fenestration.

     

    Your qualification for this role:

    • Degree level, equivalent education or proven experience of sustained over achievement in a new business sales environment.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as good interpersonal skills.
    • Able to communicate complex technical issues.
    • Proven track record of significantly exceeding targets and expectations.
    • Proven ability in closing business to business sales and winning new customers.
    • Excellent sales, negotiation and presentation skills.
    • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
    • Self-motivated and adaptable to be able to work with minimal supervision.
    • Italian, English and French fluent/ French and English/ Spanish, French and English
